We live in a new world. A world that caters to every viewpoint under the sun except for one…the viewpoint of a Christian. Have you noticed how commonplace it is today to allow persons of every possible belief to express their views? But somehow it has become inappropriate for Christians to share their views and beliefs without being shot down by everyone around them. I remember a passage in Isaiah that speaks God’s wisdom on this very topic. Isaiah 7:9 says, “If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.” God knew that the world would not understand Him. If they wouldn’t accept Jesus, they wouldn’t accept God. And because Jesus is not accepted by a large portion of our world, we face an uphill battle speaking out about Him.
I do believe we have some very vocal Christians today who are willing to stand up and speak out about their faith in God and Jesus Christ. But if we’re honest, most who profess to be Christians are more comfortable sitting quietly in the shadows and not stirring up trouble. They believe good attendance at church and a good attitude at home and at work is enough of a risk. When Jesus said to take up our cross and follow Him, He may be referring to the persecution we’re sure to face if we stand up for Him. We need to speak out for the things we believe are true and right. If we remain silent, others may take our silence as a condoning of their position. And that position is probably of the world and not at all what we believe.
So please….speak up!!! The world desperately needs to hear it!
