Tomorrow is a big day at the church I attend. It is our homecoming or family reunion. Members present and past will gather together to worship, fellowship, and reminisce of our times as members of this family. It’s sure to be a fun time and a real reminder of what our homecoming in heaven will be like one day. When that day comes, and the elect are called to take their place among the saved, it will be a celebration like no other. Tomorrow at our church homecoming, I will see many familiar faces. But I will also see past members of our family who were here even before I moved to the area some 20 years ago. And it will be the same in heaven when I’m joined with other saints throughout the years. I’m not sure if I’ll recognize familiar souls, but I will also come face to face with every Christian past, present, and future who have put on Christ in baptism and who have walked in faith, determined and hopeful of their home in heaven. As uplifting as our church homecoming will be, I can’t wait till our heavenly homecoming. And the best part is, it will last for eternity. I hope to see you there.
