Fear. One of Satan’s most effective tools. He’s so good at using it. He will whisper and plant just the right thoughts into our minds so that we become anxious, we begin to doubt. And as soon as we focus on fear and worry we become ineffective. I’ve found many nonbelievers to assume that Christians are fearful, naive people. Their argument says that we create a God to calm us and give us assurance that there is more to life than just this life.
Truthfully, a mature Christian learns to conquer fear. A person walking in faith learns that God is in control and when we give our lives to Him there is no cause for alarm. He has conquered the world. He has conquered Satan and He has conquered death. We have no need for fear when we worship a Lord that is that powerful.
Hebrews 13:5-6 reminds us of God’s promise. “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’ So we say with confidence, ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?” Notice the word confidence in that verse. Do we have confidence; full, complete confidence in His promise? Then let us set aside fear and be bold in proclaiming the good news of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
