God’s Word (God’s Love)

Hello everyone. I decided to take a week off from my last post to gather my thoughts and come up with some new ideas for entries onto this page.  This series of posts will be titled “God’s Word.”  Each entry will have very little commentary from me but will instead focus simply on what God said in the Word he left us, the Bible.  While opinions and the presenting of God’s word through blogs such as this one is beneficial, I think it appropriate that we study his word alone at times and let in sink in and touch our soul in a way that words from mere man cannot do.  Each entry will focus on a different message (today’s message is God’s love), and hopefully allow you to meditate and rest on his teachings.  The post will not list every verse about that subject but will be a small sample to think about for the day.

Today’s passage from God’s word will come from:

Psalms 57:9-11, 8:1-2a, 8:3-6, 8:9

1 John 4:7-10, 4:13-18

“I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies.”

“O Lord , our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!  You have set your glory above the heavens. From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise.”

“When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?  You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. You made him ruler over the works of your hands; you put everything under his feet.”

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!”

“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

“We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us his Spirit. And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us.  God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. In this way, love is made complete among us so that we will have confidence on the day of judgment, because in this world we are like him. There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”
