Blessed Assurance. I haven’t heard that song sung in a while and I don’t know what brought it to my mind today, but it reminded me of the assurance we have through Christ that our faith is not in vain.
Today’s passage comes from:
Psalms 23, Isaiah 32:17, and Hebrews 10:19-23
“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
“The fruit of righteousness will be peace; the effect of righteousness will be quietness and confidence forever.”
“Therefore , brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”
