Love is a Work of Heart

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.”

(1 Corinthians 13: 4-8)

This passage is one of the most popular in the entire Bible. This perfect image of love is hard to come by outside of Christ’s love for us. But when we do see an example of this description of love lived out, it’s as if we are beholding a work of art.

Really, it’s a work of heart. It’s a beautiful thing to witness a kind, patient love. It’s inspiring to watch love push through the most severe trials, to trust and protect the object of its affection. We can have all wisdom, all power, all wealth, all this world has to offer. But without a selfless, unending, awe-inspiring love….we are nothing!

  1. When we show love to others, it is a reflection of Christ’s love for us. Our love is imperfect. God’s love is perfect. The deepest love on this earth can not compare to the love God has for us. It’s hard to comprehend.

Well said. I try daily to wrap my mind around the breadth of God’s love and my mind cannot comprehend it. I just try to show even a fraction of God’s love to others so that they will glorify Him.
