A while back, I played in a recreational church softball league and I had a blast doing it. It was more for the fellowship but I am slightly competitive and of course wanted to win each game we played. One game in particular was a nail biter and I had a chance to win the game if I was able to hit a homerun in my last at-bat. With two men on base, I connected with a pitch right on the sweet spot of the bat and sent the ball soaring over the left field fence winning the game for our team.
There’s this perfect spot on the bat where the best hits come from and there’s a sweet spot in our life where we operate at our fullest potential. The great thing is that God knows where our sweet spot is. He created us,after all, with our gifts and experiences so that we would use them for his glory. And when we live in the zone, in our so-called sweet spot, great things can happen.
Paul reminded Timothy to live in his sweet spot and to continually stoke the fires of excitement for God (2 Timothy 1:6). Living in our sweet spot also greatly encourages those around us (1 Corinthians 12:7). Examine your strengths and determine to live in the role God has designed uniquely for you. Being there will make you very happy and will help fulfill God’s plan here on earth.
