Satan. The Accuser, the Destroyer, the Thief. He’s evil and evil enjoys company. When you’re miserable and defeated, you want to bring as many as you can along with you. And that’s what Satan does. He’s so jealous of the love God has for us that he’ll stop at nothing to try to ruin it. Lies, deceit, pessimism. All tools that Satan uses to keep our focus away from God.
But God comes to your defense. “Christ Jesus, who died- more than that, who was raised to life- is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us” (Romans 8:34). He knows every trick of the devil. Don’t you know that Jesus was tempted with the same schemes from Satan and yet remained sinless? We have a high priest who understands our struggles (Hebrews 4:15). Who better to have on our side than God?
“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water” (Hebrews 10:22).
