Authority of the Word

image2 Timothy 3:16- “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,  so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2 Peter 1:20-21-  Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things.  For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

Hebrews 4:12- “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.”

Isaiah 55:10-11- “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth:  It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”

Mark 13:31- “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.”

1 Peter 1:23- “For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”

Proverbs 30:5- “Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.”

Psalm 33:6- “By the word of the Lord the heavens were made, their starry host by the breath of his mouth.”

(Doctrines, commentaries, opinions, and preferences aside….God’s word stands on its own.  It doesn’t need our feeble attempts to mold it into a more perfect law.  It comes from the mind and mouth of God himself and thus is eternal and perfect already.  Take the time to read and meditate daily on the refreshing, invigorating, healing word of God for through it and its promises you can find life.)
